Auxenion GmbH develops novel pharmaceutical assets by integrating chemistry, biology, proteomics, and bioinformatics into one discovery process.

Rather than beginning exclusively with a predefined biological target, Auxenion uses phenotypic discovery to identify compounds that produce meaningful effects in relevant biological systems. The underlying mechanisms can then be investigated using integrated scientific methods.

The company's approach is designed to connect biological insight with practical drug discovery. By combining different scientific disciplines within an integrated discovery platform, Auxenion aims to identify opportunities that can address significant unmet medical needs.

Leadership Team

Auxenion was founded by a team with experience spanning clinical medicine, cancer research, and chemistry. Dr. med. Johannes Reinmüller, Chairman, is an independent surgeon and medical researcher with 30+ years of experience, owner and managing director of the Klinik am Sonnenberg in Wiesbaden, Germany, and inventor of multiple patent-protected medical devices, processes, and drug applications. Dr. Roman Marty, CEO, is a chemistry researcher with 15+ years of experience and an entrepreneurial mindset for translating scientific discoveries into commercial value, and is inventor of patented applications of novel molecules in medicine and materials science. Dr. Viktoria Reinmüller, CSO, is a cancer researcher with 15+ years of experience combining chemistry, cancer biology, and cancer drug discovery; she is an EPFL Innogrant awardee and inventor of new and patented molecules and their medical applications.

The Story Behind Our Name

The name Auxenion is built from two ancient roots: the Latin auxilium, meaning help, aid, or remedy, and the Greek ξένος (xenos).

Xenos is often translated simply as "foreign" or "stranger," but its deeper meaning, rooted in the Greek tradition of philoxenia, is "guest": the stranger to be welcomed, not feared. It is this sense we draw on: the new, the unfamiliar, the not-yet-seen, approached with curiosity rather than caution.

Auxenion, then, builds remedy by welcoming what is novel: new science, new ways of thinking and understanding disease.
